Intro...

My name is Tim Russell. I've never blogged before, but I've been following the stock market since 2006 and have been emailing with friends about it throughout that time. I have done decently well in the markets in that time, primarily because the bear market we find ourselves in hasn't eviscerated my accounts (2008 was an up year for me, and so far, 2009 has been, as well). I decided to start this over the 4th of July weekend in 2009. Bear with me here as I try to get this thing going.

Note that I cannot access this blog during the workday because of my day job as an engineer and their infernal corporate firewall. Because of that, I envision this being a one-a-day blog, usually at night after I get home from work and on weekends. I'd like to throw out a pick for each trading day along with my general feel of the action during the day as well as updating on picks. Given the one-a-day nature of this blog, these picks will be with a timeframe measured typically in weeks or so. Some of these picks may be actionable immediately, but some may not. I will also try to post more educational entries from time to time, as opposed to simply picks.

This blog will be in conjunction with the watchlist I have on Stockcharts.com. You should be able to see the complete watchlist by going to this link.

If this link fails, you should be able to go to their public charts page and search for me.

I'll probably also post the picks on the blog here directly. Details like this are things that still have to be worked out.

Hopefully you'll get something out of this blog. I think it will help me keep my market thoughts straight. In the past, I've found myself having trouble zeroing in on the most promising picks, and I hope this blog helps me to do that. The old adage goes, "He who tries to defend everything defends nothing."
